Please don't disappoint.

(Check out the article at WSJ, it's sweet and it presents a nice background on the Mulleavy sisters.)

Collaborations are a tricky thing. Seriously. Sometimes you win
(Think: Pamela Love + Opening Ceremony), most times you lose. Earlier this month, CH and I headed over to the downtown H&M to line up to see some Jimmy Choo + H&M pieces. Upon leaving the sky train station and seeing the line, we decided to eat crepes instead. We walked past H&M later, much later, and we can see women falling over each other (okay, maybe that's a slight exaggeration), grabbing at the blue JC boxes.

Oh, please.

I saw the window display. The clothes looked H&M-ish and the quality looked crappy. Even regular H&M shoes looked better. So. Shame on you, Tamara Mellon. Oh. And Sonia Rykiel is doing a 2 part collaboration. If you're a sucker for disappointment, head over on December 5th and see it for yourself. (Part 1: lingerie and accessories, part 2: knit-wear for women and children and more accessories.)

The Anna Sui collection for Target was maybe a notch better than McQ's.
Look. I'm over Gossip Girl. Aren't you?

C'mon, Target. Get me excited.

What? Kate and Luara Mulleavy (yes, Rodarte) + French inspired frocks? Okay. You have my attention.

Bottom corner: black lace dress seen on little Tavi but in nude-ish/yellow in this month's Teen Vogue.

Maybe it's the way they're styling the pieces or the sunglasses but something is awfully Stanley Kubrick about the pictures. In a good way.

There has been a lot of boo-hoo-ing about how the collaboration doesn't seem to emulate the dreamy-goth girl dresses you so often see in Rodarte collections. Okay, "recessionistas," listen up: no fashion house is going to sell a $60 version of themselves that mirrors what they produce at a $2000 price tag. Sorry.

There's a touch of French-girl cool and vintage-garment-quirkiness to this collection - I'm seriously intrigued. So much so, maybe I'll head down to Portland and camp out for some Rodarte goodness.
But until then, I'm going to listen to the Minnutes' "More to Luv" and think of Target commercials (because Target commercials makes me happy inside).
